When you choose to work with me, Katheryn Barton, you’re entering a space designed for both partners to feel heard, understood, and supported. In couples therapy, neutrality is essential; my goal is to create an environment where both of you can express yourselves openly without fear of judgment or bias.
Transparency and Open Communication
I encourage my clients to be transparent with me. If at any point you feel that I’m not maintaining neutrality or if something I say doesn’t resonate, I want you to let me know. Your feedback is crucial in ensuring that our sessions are effective and that we’re addressing your unique concerns.
The Therapy Process
Our work together typically begins with a session where all three of us meet. This allows us to discuss the dynamics of your relationship and identify key areas of focus. Following this, I conduct two individual sessions—one with each partner. These sessions are vital for gathering background information that helps me understand the individual perspectives and experiences each of you brings to the relationship.
After the individual sessions, we will resume our joint meetings. This structure allows us to track the cycles or patterns you may have fallen into and work collaboratively toward healthier communication and understanding.
By fostering a safe and neutral environment, my aim is to guide you both through the complexities of your relationship, helping you build a stronger, more connected partnership. I look forward to embarking on this journey with you.
